Running London

So, you're a runner and you're in London for a few days and you'd like to combine a bit of sightseeing with keeping fit. What to do? Well, make a trip to number 236 Oxford Street where NikeTown is located. It's right there at the Oxford Circus Tube station exit; you can't miss it. If you've got time, stroll around and absorb the award-winning retail and architectural concept; if your schedule is tight, go straight to the second floor, where the running section can be found, and sign up for the runs NikeTown conducts each Tuesday evening in Regent's Park. All categories, from beginner to advanced, are catered for.

If you're in London this week, head on down to Canada Square Park on Tuesday evening and take part in the Canary Wharf Jog, a fun run with a noble purpose — raising money the British Heart Foundation. Last year, the event raised £104,000; the target this year is £150,000. This is a cause dear to our, well, heart.

If organized events are not your thing, lace up the shoes and make your way to Hyde Park, one of the city's most prized public spaces, where you can run along Rotten Row. If you're there at 7 am, you'll be joined by groups of horse riders kicking up clouds of dust, and if you're there at 7 pm, you'll see a whole spectrum of London life boating, walking, playing football, biking and skating. Marvellous.
