Not getting the shiznit
Had a "feeling-not-so-young-anymore" moment yesterday after logging onto St Bob's Live 8 site. "Get all the shiznit on your mobile phone" it said. Get all the what? Oh, well. The Urban Dictionary gives 48 definitions and some classic example sentences:
"Popeye's chicken is the shiznit."
"Damn Tony! Your new ride is the shiznit! Lemme borrow it to drive by Mya's."
"dude, you got xbox live, very shiznit."
The etymology offered ranges from "another form of that is the shit" to "In order to fully understand the word you must go way back to its aramaic form 'seisnits' which can be further broken down into two parts: seis and nits. Seis can be translated to mean best, most, more, etc. while nits means things or stuff"
BTW, Bob's page that says "LIVE 8 ON YOUR PHONE" is a 404. Not the shiznit at all.
