I hope Neil Young will remember...
Oh, he's ridin' high now. He's Living With War and blogging about it, too. But as Lynyrd Skynyrd pointedly noted about the Canadian singer: "A Southern man don't need him around anyhow." That line's from the classic "Sweet Home Alabama" and here, thanks to YouTube, is Jewel's moving rendition of it set to images taken during a trip across the state. The song's also got the oh-so true line, "Being Southern is a state of mind." I was reminded of that when they started praying to an improvised statue of a Munster rugby player in the Augustinian church in Limerick at the beginning of May. You can find the same separateness in southern places such as Bavaria and AndalucĂa.
