Poor Boy Long Way from Home

Another YouTube gem. Booker "Bukka" White (1909-1977) in majestic form performing "Poor Boy Long Way From Home". This is the real Delta deal. Love that National Steel guita, btw.

TRIVIA: Bob Dylan covered White's song "Fixin' to Die Blues" in 1962, which helped the world discover the Mississippi guitarist. But it was John Fahey who did most to perpetuate White's music. Story's told that after hearing White's recording of "Aberdeen, Mississippi Blues", the overwhelmed Fahey wrote him a postcard addressed: "Bukka White (Old Blues Singer), c/o General Delivery, Aberdeen, Mississippi." He had assumed that White lived there, or close by. The postcard was forwarded to Memphis, Tennessee, where White was working at the time. Ah, the good old days when public services went the exta mile. Take a look now at White performing "Aberdeen, Mississippi Blues". Absolutely brilliant! And here's another one for Mrs Rainy Day's train-song collection: "Special Streamline". Truly splendid pickin' 'n slidin' and proto rapping by "Bukka" White.
