RTE redesigns

It is customary when a business refurbishes its premises to inform the customers of changes. Inconvenience and good manners and all that. The New York Times told its readers about its website redesign (not once, but two times, which is why they named the city twice) and many others have done likewise. People appreciate learning about what's going on, especially if it affects how they interact with a company. But RTE does things differently. Well, I can't see anything about a site redesign on the homepage of Ireland's national broadcaster, anyway. Did go to the Press section, though. Nothing there, either. If I'm doing an injustice to RTE here, by the way I'll be happy to add a correction.

Adam Maguire has the redesign covered. "I hope the site will now evolve continuously rather than me having to wait another X amount of years to see any further change," he says. Right. On the plus side, we agree about having RSS feeds available right from the start page. It's a good move. But no blogs! Come on, RTE. You may not like telling customers about change, but you should not be afraid to communicate.
