Rocco's big day

It's going to be a great day for our favourite American Vatican blogger, Rocco Palmo, who keeps an eagle eye on what's happening along the shores of the Holy See from his fastness in Philadelphia, PA. Rocco runs the excellent Whispers in the Loggia and he's set up camp in Washington DC to monitor the papal visit. Here's a tip: If you want an unbiased account of what Benedict says in the coming days, along with reading Rocco, do the following:

1. Read the papal speeches.
2. Read Sandro Magister.
3. Read Pope 2008.com.

Do any or all of the above before reading what the "press" thinks it heard the pontiff saying. Fortunately, we live at a time when independent and informed sources are there for all to access. A typical example is American Papist. The dedication, knowledge and sheer passion of these bloggers is astonishing. Truly, these are extraordinary times.
