You Drive and We'll Listen To Music
The greatest pop songs are three minutes long and simple. But because three-minute simplicity is complicated, great pop songs are rare. You Drive and We'll Listen To Music by the sadly defunct San Francisco band Citizens Here and Abroad is a great one, and what makes it extra special is Jason Koxvold's video of the song, which combines crashing cars and crashing guitar chords.
If anyone embodies the notion of the globalized citizen, it has to be Jason Koxvold. Born in 1977 in Belgium and raised in England, he's now based in New York City. His father, Sverre Fraas, is Norwegian and his mother, Franca, was born in Venice. Her father, Aldo, is famous in his hometown of Chioggia as a member of the Italian Resistance during World War II, while Koxvold's paternal grandfather, Leif Fr. Koxvold, was a celebrated entrepreneur, inventor, sculptor and painter. He also raced cars and, like grandfather, like grandson, Jason raced motorcycles in his early days, finishing fifth in the 2000 Scottish 125cc Grand Prix.
