Fed Express

Stayed up late, but mercifully not too late, to see Roger Federer at his absolute brilliant best win his fifth straight US Open title. The Fed Express stormed to a 6-2 7-5 6-2 victory in one hour 51 minutes at Flushing Meadows. He also put paid to Andy Murray's hopes of a first Grand Slam title. The young Scot had been trying to become the first Brit since Fred Perry in 1936 to win one of the four major singles titles. He was never at the races, however.

Oh, and this just in: "Lance to return for '09 Tour de France". Crikey! Like this: "... the cyclist will race for no salary or bonuses and post his internally tested blood work online." Lots of TV watching coming up in '09. Daytime, instead of nighttime, though.
