Becker-Posner on a roll

The blogging Maverecon, Willem Buiter, is respected for his eloquence, erudition and lengthy posts. In this time of Twitter, when brevity is considered wisdom, Buiter keeps pounding away at the keyboard, rushing past the 140-charcter limit and not stopping often until he has hammered out 9,247 or so. And that's when he's in a hurry.

Gary Becker and Richard Posner are of a similar school, at least when it comes to blogging, which is one of the reasons they have been added to the Rainy Day blogroll. I mean, just look at the enormous slab of text that flows down the page. You cannot do Big Ideas with your thumbs, no matter how fast you text and you cannot express notions like this if your concept of thought is the tweet:

"The ideological division within the conservative movement has been compounded by a decline in intellectual and managerial competence -- a tendency to substitute will for intelligence ('I believe it so it must be so'). Some commenters note the intellectual and ethical failings of liberals, and they are right to do so. But it is only at the Right, at present, that anti-intellectualism is embraced and extolled."

Welcome to the Rainy Day blogroll, guys. Keep typing!
