Week out...

It's the web. Sean Parker gave a provocative presentation entitled "The New Era Of The Network Service" at the Web 2.0 Summit. He says "network services" like Facebook and Twitter will dominate, rather than "information services".

It's the economy. Fortune magazine decided to cut back from 25 issues to 18 annually.

It's the economy. The New York Times shrunk its newsroom and announced third quarter earnings showing total revenues down 17 percent to $571 million.

It's the web. WWW inventor Tim Berners-Lee opened a Twitter account.

Fail: Nokia delayed, embarrassingly, the launch of its new N900 phone and opted for an easier revenue model: suing Apple.

Success: Roman Polanski will soon be extradited to the US. But he should be grateful that the Swiss and the Americans are civil in these matters. Others are more robust when it comes to crimes against minors.
