GEMA breaks the internet every day

“Imagine a world without free knowledge… The US Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia.” So says the most prominent protestor in today’s net “strike”. But it’s not just the proposed US legislation in the form of the Stop Online Piracy Act (Sopa) and the the Protect Intellectual Property Act (Pipa) that threatens the freedom we have come to expect of the net. In Germany, an agency called GEMA breaks the internet on a daily basis with breathtaking impunity. And where’s the outrage?
