Mark and Moby

His voice is, he says, “as scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather.” He is Mark Lanegan and he is a musical journeyman whose career began in 1984, when he formed the grunge band Screaming Trees. For Record Store Day this year, Lanegan worked with dance music star Moby to release a 7-inch record called The Lonely Night. “I’ve always wanted to work with him,” said Moby. “He has one of the best and most distinctive voices of the last 25 years. Now that we live near each other it ended up being really easy working on a song together.” The Lonely Night is also on Moby’s new album Innocents, which will be released at the end of this month.
