Born to run

Matan Rochlitz and Ivo Gormley of Banyak Films hire “all the kit needed to make documentaries, music videos and shorts” at their studios in Hackney in London. The results have attracted international praise. Here, they bombard runners with intimate questions and extract “funny and brutally frank confessions.”

“Someday girl I don’t know when
We’re gonna get to that place
Where we really wanna go
And we’ll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
Baby, we were born to run.”

Bruce Springsteen, Born To Run

Song of the Year

Saturday, 31 December, 2011

Taken from the album 21, which was released on 24 January this year, Someone Like You has been described by Adele as the summation of her attitude towards the heartbreak of a relationship gone wrong: “Nevermind, I’ll find someone like you / I wish nothing but the best for you, too / Don’t forget me, I beg / I’ll remember you said / Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.” Sean Fennessey of The Village Voice wrote that Adele’s “nuanced” voice ascends “into a near-shrieked whisper” before she “rebounds and gathers herself” before descending into a more melancholy state. The maturity of the lyrics is extraordinary, the singing is sublime.
